We plan thematically in Lucan CNS, and in Junior Infants we’ve just finished our Fruit and Veg month. As part of this integrated theme, we read the stories The Enormous Turnip and Jack and the Beanstalk and acted out the stories in our small world. In our role play corner we had great fun shopping in the Fruit and Veg shop.  We wrote our shopping lists, selected real fruit and vegetables for our trolley and had conversations with the shopkeeper and other shoppers!
We designed new wellies for the Giant using Fabric and Fibre and we each painted our favourite scene from the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We had great fun learning under this umbrella theme.
